| Notes on presence status | Besides the confirmed Zoanthus pulchellus a single similar specimen was found at Curaçao (Montenegro et al., 2020). This Zoantus aff. pulchellus was morphologically different from Z. pulchellus specimens in being almost completely ‘immersae’, with polyps barely protruding above a well-developed coenenchyme. Further analyses are needed to confirm the identity of this specimen, particularly given the intraspecific morphological plasticity of Zoanthus spp. |
