    Notes on presence status It can be very difficult to distinguish between Mobula birostris and Mobula cf. birostris from photos. Mobula cf. birostris hasn't been officially described in the literature but there are a few papers now recognizing it as a different species (pers. comm. Nicole Pelletier, Manta Trust, May 1st 2021).
